Unterwegs in Arakan mit der Rolling Clinic<\/h1>\n

Ein Bericht von Dr. Elke Wettst\u00e4dt \u00fcber ihren Einsatz auf Mindanao\/Philippinen<\/strong><\/em><\/h2>\n

Nach dem ersten Tag der Rolling Clinic-Tour auf der philippinischen Insel Mindanao<\/a> macht sich unser Team am fr\u00fchen Morgen vom Dorf Libertad auf zum n\u00e4chsten Tagesziel. Die mehrst\u00fcndige Fahrt f\u00fchrt \u00fcber rumpelige Schotter- und Feldwege, durch kleine D\u00f6rfchen, Bananenplantagen und gr\u00fcne Felder, bergauf und -ab mit immer wieder sch\u00f6nen Ausblicken auf die gr\u00fcnen H\u00e4nge alter Vulkanberge und die Talebenen davor.<\/p>\n

Manchmal ist das durchkommen schwer…<\/p><\/div>\n

Kurz vorm heutigen Tagesziel – dem Dorf Lake Sagan – kommen wir allerdings fast nicht weiter: Die regennassen Matschwege sind von Bananenlastern v\u00f6llig zerfahren und zerkl\u00fcftet, unser Jeep droht in Schr\u00e4glage zu geraten, steckenzubleiben oder gar umzukippen. Erst als uns die Dorfbewohner zu Hilfe kommen und das dichte Gestr\u00fcpp am Wegrand kurzerhand mit Macheten entfernen, k\u00f6nnen wir \u00fcber diesen improvisierten „Seitenstreifen“ vorsichtig weiterfahren.<\/p>\n

\"Medizinische<\/a>

Zahlreiche Patienten warten auf eine Untersuchung<\/p><\/div>\n

Im Dorf angekommen, welches nur aus Bambus- und Holzh\u00fctten besteht, schlagen wir unser Tageslager auf; alle Einwohner helfen beim Entladen des Jeeps. Unter einem Unterstand k\u00fcmmern sich Fahrer Lito und Nurse Gladys um die Registrierung der Patienten, Blutdruckmessung, Wiegen etc., sp\u00e4ter auch um die Ausgabe der Medikamente und Impfungen, w\u00e4hrend \u00dcbersetzerin Katy und ich uns den ersten Konsultationen widmen. Diese finden in der Kirche statt, welche letztlich eine \u00fcberdachte Ansammlung von Sitzb\u00e4nken mit einem kleinen Rednerpult, jedoch weitestgehend ohne W\u00e4nde ist. Ein Teil der vorderen Sitzreihen ist f\u00fcr uns als improvisiertes Sprechzimmer durch T\u00fccher abgetrennt worden, der hintere Teil der B\u00e4nke dient als Warteraum.<\/p>\n

\"Arztbehandlung<\/a>

Unser Sprechzimmer<\/p><\/div>\n

An diesem Tag werden wie so oft viele kranke Kinder vorstellig, viele Patienten mit Infekt-Erkrankungen wie z.B. Lungenentz\u00fcndungen, aber auch Hautprobleme, Durchfall oder Schmerzen werden h\u00e4ufig beklagt. Wir k\u00f6nnen den meisten prompt mit unseren mitgebrachten Medikamenten helfen, bevor sich die Symptomatik weiter verschlechtert oder gar lebensbedrohlich wird. Die Patienten sind dankbar f\u00fcr die erbrachte Zuwendung und Hilfe – ohne die Rolling Clinic w\u00e4re die n\u00e4chste medizinische Versorgungsm\u00f6glichkeit mehrere Stunden Fu\u00dfweg oder eine sehr teure (f\u00fcr die meisten unbezahlbare) private Motorradfahrt entfernt. Zwischendurch sorgen ein Blick aus der wandlosen Kirche ins gr\u00fcne Tal, ein durch das Sprechzimmer spazierender Hahn und das von Dorfbewohnern bereitete Mittagessen f\u00fcr kurze Pausen.<\/p>\n

Wundersch\u00f6ne Landschaft begleitet uns<\/p><\/div>\n

Am sp\u00e4ten Nachmittag wird wieder zusammengepackt und nach etwa 2 Stunden wackeliger Fahrt vorm abendlichen Wolkenbruch noch das n\u00e4chste Etappenziel erreicht.
